Singapore's FIRST Drama-STEM Programme

Bright Star Academy proudly introduces Singapore's first-ever Drama-STEM enrichment programme, a groundbreaking approach that uses the power of drama, storytelling, and role-play to bring Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) to life for preschoolers.

Designed for children aged 5 to 6, the Star Explorers curriculum integrates STEM with the creative power of drama, preparing children for a confident transition into primary school.

What Your Child Will Gain

🔬 STEM Learning

Our curriculum introduces foundational STEM concepts through engaging, age-appropriate modules. We focus on:

  • Exploring scientific & mathematical phenomena like magnetism
  • Developing an engineer's mindset through critical thinking and problem-solving
  • Learning tangible concepts like structural stability through real-world applications

❤️ Social Skills

The drama component is fundamental to fostering key social-emotional competencies. Your child will:

  • Build confidence & communication skills through collaborative storytelling
  • Develop empathy by understanding and role-playing a character's emotions
  • Unleash creativity & imagination to bring compelling narratives to life

Our Curriculum

At the age of 5-6, children are now more capable to spot and recognise patterns, and can begin to understand abstract concepts.

Our programmes for this age group focuses on introducing them to structured problem-solving activities, where children will learn the theoretical concepts of natural phenomena through storytelling, crafting, and conduct scientific experiments to experience the theory in action.

Inquiry-Based Learning

As children at this age are capable of greater abstract reasoning, our programme introduces them to more complex STEM concepts through inquiry-based learning. They learn to:

  • Ask questions, form hypotheses, test ideas, and reflect on outcomes
  • Take on roles such as scientists and engineers, conducting investigations
  • Direct their own learning instead of passively receiving information

The 12 Modules

This programme builds on children's natural curiosity, introducing scientific concepts through hands-on experiments, storytelling, and role-play. Children develop critical thinking, early scientific reasoning, and the language of science.

1
Scientific Observational Skills

Build scientific thinking through hands-on exploration of phenomena like floating and sinking.

2
Cycles in Matter - Water

Learn about the 3 states of water and the water cycle through story, science, and play.

3
Light and Shadows

Explore how light forms shadows and experiment with shadow puppetry.

4
Light and Colours

Discover how white light splits into colours and experiment with prisms and filters.

5
Light in the Ocean

Explore how light changes underwater and how sea creatures adapt to the deep sea.

6
Diversity of Living Things

Transform into sea creatures to learn facts through costume, voice, and movement.

7
Magnets and Magnetism

Investigate magnetic forces through experiments and invention-based role play.

8
Space Exploration

Journey through space to explore planet features and space science through drama.

9
Number Crunching

Use movement and stories to understand multiplication patterns.

10
How Do Kites Fly?

Explore kite design and the science of flight through hands-on storytelling.

11
Future of Biomimicry

Observe nature's solutions and apply them to solve problems sustainably.

12
Showcase ⭐

Children revisit key concepts by preparing a showcase using performance or installation.
